The world's largest International trade show of seafood and processing technologies Seafood Expo Global & Seafood Processing Global 2019 has started in Brussels. The Russian Federation is represented by 23 national fishing companies.

The Russian national pavilion was arranged by Expo Solutions Group, a full-service exhibition company, under the auspices of the Federal Agency Russia for Fisheries for the fourth time in a row. The number of participants in the Russian exposition is a record-breaking compared to previous years.

The core of the Russian national pavilion is constituted by key players in the industry and permanent participants of the Brussels exhibition such as NOREBO, NBAMR, Russian Fishery Company, Yuzhno-Kyrilsky fish factory, Antey, F.E.S.T., Sirius, Dikiy Ulov, Tymlatsky Fish Factory, North-Kurilsk Base of Seiner Fleet, DEFA, Collective farm fishery by V.I. Lenin and Collective farm fishery by V.I. Kalinin being represented at the combined national booth for the first time ever.

This year, the core activities of the participants exhibited at the Russian booth have expanded considerably. Manufacturers of fishing equipment, component suppliers, mariculture enterprises and distribution companies based in the Primorsk Territory, Kaliningrad and Murmansk Regions have joined the fishing companies.

"The first day of the exhibition was very fruitful with our fishing businesses sparking an interest with the European public. Active negotiations are under way by the booths with some companies having already executed agreements with potential buyers," Ivan Fetisov, the General Director of Expo Solutions Group, said.

Following the European trend for finished and semi-finished products, Russian fish producers have demonstrated such deeply processed fish products as salmon and white fish fillets, preserves and canned products. Furthermore, the show windows of the exhibit booths demonstrate flounder, cod, haddock, sardine and salmon frozen on ships.

The Russian delegation is headed by Petr Savchuk, the Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries. He opened the Russian exposition shoulder to shoulder with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belgium Alexander Tokovinin. Petr Savchuk reminded about the tasks set for industry, such as boosting financial return on the exports of domestic fish and seafood. To do this, it is necessary to focus on products with high added value and expand the sales geography. "Judging by the exhibited domestic products, mood and plans of our enterprises to upgrade their production capacities by constructing greenfield coastal factories and modern vessels, the goal is to have foreign trade boosted from current $5.2 billion to $8.5 billion by 2025," Petr Savchuk said.
