Fishery is one of the traditional specializations of the Khabarovsk regional economy. Khabarovsk fishery complex continues to develop, occupying an increasingly important place in the structure of the industry. Catches and the volume of fish products produced in the region are increasing annually. In 2020, despite the difficult economic conditions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the catch of biological resources exceeded 400 thousand tons.
Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia is an important opportunity for the development of Khabarovsk fishery complex. Khabarovsk is a traditional participant of the event. This year the region will be presented by the stands of fishing collective farm INYA, Dalremmash company and the Union of fishing cooperatives-collective farms of the Khabarovsk Krayrybakkolkhozsoyuz, which includes fishing collective farm Named of 50 years of October and Vostokinvest company.
“In terms of catch, our region ranks fourth in the Far Eastern Federal District and fifth in the Russian Federation. Today in the difficult conditions of foreign economic activity caused by the pandemic the fishery complex of the region faces the task of reorienting the supply of products to the domestic market of Russia. It requires the modernization of existing production facilities, the creation of new processing facilities focused on the production of highly processed products, which will be in demand in the domestic market of our country,” said Acting Governor Mikhail Degtyarev.
In his opinion within the framework of the event representatives of the regional fisheries complex will be able to discuss ideas for the development of fishing: creating special conditions for industry enterprises focused on coastal fishing in the northern Khabarovsk areas, stimulating investment, attracting personnel and increasing demand for fish products.
IV Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia 2021 is the largest event in the Russian fishing industry. The event will take place on 8-10 September 2021 at the Expoforum Exhibition and Convention Centre in Saint Petersburg.
