Aquaculture became an essential part of Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia
11 May 2021

In the end of 2020 the organizers of Russia’s biggest fishery event Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia announced that aquaculture will become a separate sector of the exhibition. Since than leading farmers, aquaculture companies, net making enterprises, equipment, feeds, additives, veterinary medicine producers joined the sector. It obtained a status of only platform unifying all parts of production and supply chain in one place.

The volumes of fish breeding around the world are going far beyond catching for a long time. But in Russia aquaculture did not gain such results yet. However, this part of fishery industry considered to be very perspective and lately the debates around it among private and state sectors are growing. Hence Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia 2021 aimed at attracting more attention towards aquaculture problems in Russia.

Among sector’s tasks are:

  • Reduction of import dependence – presentation of Russian aquaculture equipment

  • Development of commercial aquaculture – introduction of new brands to consumers, dispelling myths about cultivated fish

  • Demonstration of advanced foreign technologies

  • Assistance in organizing distribution channels and finding partners

All tasks serve the final goal – saturation of domestic market by reasonable price products made in Russia.

The sector already consists of more them 35 companies. Among them are Ostrov, Russian Salmon, Volgorechensk Rybkhoz, Atlantida SPB, Veles, Algotek, Immid Aquaculture, Kasimovsetsnast, Kanat, Siberian Investment Group, Glazami Drona, AquaMaof, EMYG Aqua, Biomar, Ronar Russ, Scandi Net, Luxsol, Germes, Chanell-France, Alfeusfeeds, Salmo.ru etc. Astrakhan and Rostov region will exhibit with collective stands within the sector.

Active support was given to the sector by enterprises dealing with breeding fish. Among them are Russian leading producer of Atlantic salmon company Russian Salmon. Traditional participant of the exhibition and leader of Russian freshwater fish farming company Ostrov also supported the sector and moved to Pavilion H. The enterprise is dealing with full cycle of fish production. It breeds, processes and sells fish by itself and can share its experience with other exhibitors.

Company GlazamiDrona will participate at the exhibition for the first time. It will present underwater drones Chasing which can increase productive capacity and optimize expenditures of fish farms. Drones have several functions: they monitor the situation in the water area and plantation growth and reveal unwelcomed guests.

Another new participant of the sector is AquaMaof. The company is specializing in RAS. AquaMaof’s indoor fish farming factories use advanced technologies to cut primary costs by optimizing feed consumption, fish survival, reducing number of employees and minimizing consumption of electricity.

As usual the exhibition will have an impressive exposition of foreign companies engaged in aquaculture. Russian fish farms are highly dependent on feed and seed supplied from abroad. This makes Russia one of the most perspective markets for European companies. Biomar and Alfeus Feeds companies will present foreign fish feed. Fish seed will be presented by Chanell-France. This year Norwegian national stand also will be located at the aquaculture sector. 10 Norwegian companies are planning to present their products and services there.

Organizing our sector, we took Norwegian exhibition Aqua Nor as an example. Our goal is not only to get together all aquaculture companies within one space. We want to help them to promote their business and provide all conditions for its development. Our exhibition is designed to help aquaculture become a Russian fishery industry driver.

For now, the biggest challenge our sector faces - is lack of Russian producers of feed and aquaculture equipment. Many Russian companies invest money in their business development. But they forget that without participation in relevant events this development will be unbalanced.

The last two years gave domestic producers a unique chance to promote their products and we will do our best to help them. Under sophisticated logistic conditions many farms will be ready to use Russian analogues of feed or equipment. But how would they know about them without such events as ours?

Our plans for the future are very ambitious – we want this sector to become a self- sufficient exhibition in 2022” – shared Ivan Fetisov, CEO of event operator Expo Solutions Group company.

Global Fishery Forum& Seafood Expo Russia 2021 will be held in Saint-Petersburg, July 6-8 at the «Expoforum» Exhibition Centre. The event will unite companies engaged in catching, processing, aquaculture, equipment and processing components production, ship equipment, shipbuilding and repair as well as logistic, packaging and trading. At least 11 000 people are expected to take part in the event.
